Which hospitality companies sponsor H-2B visas in Montana?
Montana's most active H-2B sponsors in hospitality are typically large ski resorts and national park concessionaires. Big Sky Resort, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and Xanterra Parks and Resorts (which operates properties near Glacier and Yellowstone) have filed H-2B Labor Condition Applications in past seasons. Smaller lodges, dude ranches, and outfitters in gateway communities like West Yellowstone and Whitefish also appear in DOL disclosure data as recurring sponsors.
Which cities in Montana have the most hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentrations of hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs in Montana cluster around resort and gateway communities rather than major cities. Big Sky, Whitefish, and West Yellowstone see the most activity due to proximity to ski areas and national parks. Kalispell and Missoula serve as regional hubs with hotel and food service demand. Helena and Bozeman also have seasonal openings tied to tourism and event-driven hospitality.
What types of hospitality roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Montana?
H-2B sponsorship in Montana hospitality most commonly covers housekeeping attendants, front desk agents, food and beverage servers, kitchen staff, ski lift operators, and grounds maintenance workers at resorts and lodges. These roles qualify because they meet the H-2B requirement of temporary or seasonal need, with Montana's peak periods tied to ski season (December through March) and summer tourism (June through August). Roles requiring a four-year degree rarely appear in Montana H-2B filings.
How do I find hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international workers seeking visa sponsorship. You can filter by visa type (H-2B), industry (hospitality), and state (Montana) to see current openings from employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because Montana's hospitality season is highly cyclical, checking Migrate Mate in the fall for winter ski roles and in late winter for summer resort positions gives you the best timing against employer hiring cycles.
Are there any Montana-specific considerations for H-2B hospitality sponsorship?
Montana employers must file H-2B petitions well before the seasonal start date, and the state's reliance on national park and ski resort tourism means petition windows are concentrated and competitive. Montana is in the Department of Labor's Chicago National Processing Center jurisdiction. Workers should also be aware that many Montana resort properties are in remote areas with employer-provided housing, which is common but should be clarified in the job offer before accepting a position.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B hospitality jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
