Which hospitality companies sponsor H-2B visas in New Mexico?
Ski resorts such as Taos Ski Valley and Ski Santa Fe, national park concessionaires operating near Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands, and full-service hotels in Santa Fe and Albuquerque have historically filed H-2B visa Labor Condition Applications for seasonal hospitality staff. DOL OFLC disclosure data shows which specific employers have filed petitions by occupation and location, giving job seekers a verifiable starting point.
Which cities in New Mexico have the most hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Santa Fe concentrates the highest volume of H-2B hospitality filings, driven by its year-round arts tourism season and high-end hotel inventory. Taos sees significant winter-season demand tied to ski operations. Albuquerque, as the state's largest city, generates H-2B activity around conventions and airport-adjacent hotels. Smaller communities near White Sands and the Carlsbad Caverns corridor also show seasonal peaks.
What types of hospitality roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary non-agricultural work, so qualifying hospitality roles are almost always seasonal or peak-load positions. Common examples include housekeeping attendants, front desk agents, food and beverage servers, kitchen support staff, ski lift operators, and groundskeeping crew. Employers must demonstrate the need is genuinely temporary and that sufficient U.S. workers are unavailable for the positions being petitioned.
How do I find hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs in New Mexico?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-2B hospitality positions in New Mexico, filtered by employer filing history drawn from DOL Labor Condition Application data. Searching by state and visa type on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have actively petitioned for H-2B workers in roles like housekeeping, food service, and guest operations, giving you a direct view of which New Mexico properties have a demonstrated history of sponsorship.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2B hospitality workers in New Mexico?
New Mexico's hospitality hiring is strongly seasonal, with ski resort demand peaking December through March and cultural tourism in Santa Fe peaking May through October. H-2B petitions are tied to a specific employer and work location, so workers cannot transfer between properties without a new petition. New Mexico also enforces its own labor standards, including state-level wage rules that may exceed federal minimums for tipped hospitality staff.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B hospitality jobs in New Mexico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
