This position is with Construction Crew 3.
As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within State of New Mexico Government.
PURPOSE:
The Supervisor, Engineering Technician Servicer position performs field inspections, material testing, and plans verification for projects, and supervises engineering technicians with the New Mexico Department of Transportation District 3 Construction Program.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Field inspections of highway and bridge construction projects under the supervision of a Project Manager.
- Overseeing engineering technician staff that includes coordinating and scheduling inspections.
- Conducting testing of samples for staff.
- Performing advanced field inspections, documentation, and testing for construction projects.
CUSTOMERS
The traveling public and internal/external customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent and nine (9) years of relevant experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Business/Personal Reference check and Driver's License verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in office/field in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, wind, rain, and snow. May include exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; highway speed/high volume traffic and loud noises; falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; heavy lifting; sitting/standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling for extended periods of time may be required. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may also include being performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours or emergencies on short notice; willingness to accept change or geographical assignments; interaction with the public, local, county schools and city officials by phone and in person. The possibility of geographic location change.
