Large hospital systems are the most consistent sponsors, including NYC Health + Hospitals, Northwell Health, NewYork-Presbyterian, and Montefiore Medical Center. National pharmacy chains such as CVS and Walgreens also file sponsorship petitions for pharmacist roles in New York. Specialty pharmacy companies and academic medical centers affiliated with institutions like Columbia and Cornell also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for pharmacist positions.
Which visa types are most common for pharmacist roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for pharmacist roles in New York. Pharmacist positions generally qualify as specialty occupations because they require at minimum a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Some employers also sponsor permanent residence through EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa categories. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican pharmacists meeting specific requirements under the USMCA trade agreement.
Which cities in New York have the most pharmacist sponsorship jobs?

How to find pharmacist visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters pharmacist roles in New York by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. You can search by city, employer type, and visa category to focus your applications on organizations with a documented record of sponsoring pharmacists in New York rather than applying broadly and hoping for sponsorship.
Are there any state-specific considerations for pharmacists seeking visa sponsorship in New York?
New York requires pharmacists to hold a valid New York State pharmacist license issued by the State Education Department before practicing. International candidates must have their foreign pharmacy credentials evaluated and meet New York's specific licensing examination requirements. Employers initiating H-1B sponsorship must also file a Labor Condition Application certifying that the offered position meets the prevailing wage for pharmacists in the specific New York metropolitan area where the work will be performed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmacist jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
