Which companies sponsor visas for pharmacists in Hawaii?
Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, The Queen's Health Systems, Straub Medical Center, Hawaii Pacific Health, and Kapiolani Medical Center are among the larger healthcare employers in Hawaii with documented histories of sponsoring pharmacists. Long-term care networks and federally qualified health centers serving rural and neighbor island communities also sponsor international pharmacists to address persistent staffing gaps.
Which visa types are most common for pharmacist roles in Hawaii?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for pharmacists in Hawaii, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. EB-3 immigrant visas are also a frequent pathway, particularly for employers willing to support permanent residence. Some positions at nonprofit or government-affiliated facilities may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship, which bypasses the annual lottery.
How to find pharmacist visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse pharmacist openings in Hawaii without sifting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by location and role type to surface positions at Hawaii hospitals, retail pharmacy networks, and long-term care facilities that have actively sponsored international candidates.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most pharmacist sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu on Oahu accounts for the largest concentration of sponsored pharmacist positions, driven by its major hospital systems and outpatient clinics. Hilo and Kona on the Big Island, as well as Kahului on Maui, see sponsorship activity through regional medical centers and federally designated health shortage areas. Neighbor island roles can be particularly competitive to fill, increasing sponsorship likelihood.
Are there state-specific considerations for pharmacists seeking sponsorship in Hawaii?
Pharmacists must obtain a Hawaii Board of Pharmacy license before practicing, which requires passing the NAPLEX and MPJE and meeting state-specific application requirements. Hawaii's healthcare system serves a diverse multilingual population, and language proficiency in Filipino, Japanese, or Ilocano is a valued asset at many facilities. The state's designation of multiple Health Professional Shortage Areas also increases the availability of employer-sponsored positions across the islands.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmacist jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
