About us

Our Enterprise Data & Analytics function plays a critical role in enabling operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making through scalable, cloud-based data platforms.
JOB SUMMARY
ACH is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own and evolve the core data model within our Snowflake cloud data platform. This role is the backbone of our data infrastructure—responsible for maintaining a well-organized ETL system across existing integrations, troubleshooting pipeline issues, enforcing order in the consumption layer, and leading the integration of new data pipelines as the business expands into new Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and care verticals.
You will serve as the primary technical steward of our data platform, ensuring that data flows reliably from source systems through transformation layers and into analytics-ready structures. This is a hands-on role that blends architecture thinking with day-to-day engineering execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and maintain the enterprise data model in Snowflake, including staging, transformation, and consumption layers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues across ingestion, transformation, and delivery stages.
- Maintain an organized, well-documented ETL/ELT system across all existing integrations and source systems.
- Enforce consistency and governance in the consumption layer to ensure downstream reporting and analytics are built on trusted data.
- Lead the technical integration of new data pipelines as ACH expands into additional EHR platforms and business verticals.
- Optimize SQL queries, warehouse configurations, and storage structures for performance and cost efficiency.
- Manage Snowflake platform operations including warehouse sizing, access control, object management, and resource monitoring.
- Collaborate with analytics and business stakeholders to ensure data structures support reporting, dashboarding, and AI-driven use cases.
- Create and maintain documentation of data flows, pipeline configurations, data models, and platform standards.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
- 3–7 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, platform engineering, or similar roles.
- Advanced SQL proficiency including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, warehouse management, and query optimization.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ELT/ETL patterns, and dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas).
- Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for pipeline development and automation.
- Experience integrating data from healthcare systems (EHRs, claims, billing) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of platform reliability and data quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with cloud ecosystems (AWS preferred) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Fivetran).
- Exposure to data governance, security, and compliance requirements in regulated industries.
- Experience in healthcare, home care, or other operationally complex environments.

Which companies sponsor visas for platform engineers in New York?
Financial institutions and large tech employers dominate platform engineer sponsorship in New York. JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, Spotify, and Datadog have all filed H-1B petitions for platform engineering roles in recent years. Enterprise software companies and cloud infrastructure firms with New York offices also sponsor regularly, particularly for roles involving Kubernetes, Terraform, and internal developer platform work.
Which visa types are most common for platform engineer roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for platform engineers in New York, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field and meets the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the engineer category. Australians with relevant degrees can pursue the E-3 visa. O-1 visa is an option for engineers with an exceptional track record.
Which cities in New York have the most platform engineer sponsorship jobs?
New York City concentrates the overwhelming majority of platform engineer sponsorship opportunities in the state, particularly in Manhattan neighborhoods like Midtown, Hudson Square, and the Financial District. Brooklyn's tech corridor around DUMBO and Williamsburg has a smaller but growing presence. Outside the city, Albany and Buffalo have limited opportunities, primarily through healthcare systems, state government contractors, and university research environments.
How to find platform engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters platform engineer roles in New York by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening hundreds of postings. The platform aggregates roles from employers with documented sponsorship history. For platform engineers, filtering by infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE-adjacent categories within New York will surface the most relevant opportunities from companies actively hiring internationally.
Are there state-specific considerations for platform engineers seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's high concentration of financial services employers means platform engineers often work in regulated environments, which can add compliance requirements to the hiring process and occasionally extend onboarding timelines. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements apply to all H-1B filings, and New York's high cost of living means the prevailing wage benchmarks for platform engineers in the New York City metropolitan area are among the highest in the country.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored platform engineer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
