H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in North Dakota
North Dakota's seasonal economy, anchored by agriculture, oil field services, and tourism at Theodore Roosevelt National Park, generates consistent H-2B visa demand across the state. Employers in Bismarck, Fargo, and the Williston Basin region regularly sponsor temporary nonagricultural workers for roles that local labor markets can't fill.

Tips for Finding H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in North Dakota
Target the oil field service window
H-2B sponsorship activity in western North Dakota spikes when oil prices support expanded drilling operations. Williston Basin employers seeking temporary maintenance, equipment operation, and support roles often file LCAs during Q4 for the following year's work season.
Look for hospitality employers near national park gateways
Medora and surrounding communities near Theodore Roosevelt National Park have a concentrated summer tourism season. Lodges, campgrounds, and recreation operators frequently can't fill seasonal positions locally and pursue H-2B sponsorship to staff those months reliably.
Understand the H-2B cap filing calendar
North Dakota employers must file H-2B petitions within the congressionally mandated cap windows. Roles with start dates from April through September fall under the second half-year allocation. Knowing this timeline helps you identify which employers are actively in the sponsorship process.
Search industry-specific job boards early in the season
H-2B roles in North Dakota fill quickly once petitions are approved. Browsing Migrate Mate alongside employer career pages in late fall and winter gives you the best chance of connecting with sponsors before positions are committed to returning workers.
Check DOL disclosure data for recent North Dakota LCA filings
The Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure database lists certified H-2B Labor Condition Applications by state. Searching for North Dakota filings reveals which specific employers have sponsored H-2B workers recently, giving you a verified list of active sponsors to contact directly.
Prioritize employers with multi-year sponsorship histories
North Dakota businesses that have filed H-2B petitions across multiple consecutive years have established internal processes and are familiar with the documentation requirements. These repeat sponsors are generally easier to work with and more likely to have an open sponsorship position available.

Which industries in North Dakota sponsor the most H-2B visas?
Hospitality and tourism, oil field support services, landscaping, and forestry-related work account for the majority of H-2B visa sponsorship activity in North Dakota. Seasonal lodging and recreation employers near Theodore Roosevelt National Park, combined with temporary labor needs in the Williston Basin energy sector, drive most of the state's H-2B petition volume.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Williston and Dickinson in the western oil-producing region see significant H-2B activity tied to energy sector support roles. Bismarck and Fargo, as the state's largest metro areas, generate sponsorship opportunities in hospitality, grounds maintenance, and food service. Medora, despite its small size, is a notable concentration point for summer tourism-related H-2B positions.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in North Dakota?
H-2B sponsorship in North Dakota covers nonagricultural temporary roles that are seasonal or tied to a one-time need. Common qualifying positions include hotel and resort workers, groundskeepers, pipeline and oilfield support laborers, food and beverage staff, and amusement or recreation workers. The work must be temporary in nature and the employer must demonstrate that qualified U.S. workers are unavailable for those positions.
How do I find H-2B jobs in North Dakota?
Start by searching Migrate Mate, which lists H-2B sponsorship positions filtered by visa type and location, making it straightforward to identify North Dakota employers actively seeking workers. Supplement that by reviewing DOL OFLC disclosure data for recent North Dakota H-2B Labor Condition Application filings, then contact those employers directly through their career pages to confirm current openings.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
