Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Oklahoma?
The most active visa sponsors for tax consultants in Oklahoma are the Big Four accounting firms, specifically Deloitte, EY, PwC, and KPMG, which maintain offices in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Regional firms such as BKD (now Forvis Mazars) and Cole & Reed also hire for tax roles. Energy companies including Devon Energy and ONEOK occasionally sponsor for in-house tax consultant positions.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for tax consultants in Oklahoma, as the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with a CPA or master's in taxation strengthen the H-1B case considerably. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose tax credentials align with the accountant category under USMCA.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa account for the vast majority of tax consultant sponsorship opportunities in the state. Oklahoma City draws demand from corporate headquarters and state government contractors, while Tulsa's concentration of energy companies creates consistent need for oil and gas tax specialists. Smaller markets like Norman and Stillwater see limited sponsorship activity, primarily tied to university-adjacent accounting roles.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters tax consultant roles in Oklahoma by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support your status. Search by city to compare Oklahoma City and Tulsa pipelines side by side. Firms with prior H-1B filings for tax roles in Oklahoma appear prominently, giving you a concrete shortlist of employers worth targeting.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for tax consultants in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's energy industry creates demand for tax consultants with specialized knowledge in oil and gas depletion, severance tax, and intangible drilling cost deductions, which can make candidates with those backgrounds more competitive for sponsorship. Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma produce accounting graduates who sometimes enter the local job market on OPT, and employers familiar with that pipeline tend to be more experienced with the H-1B process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
