Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Kansas?
The most active visa sponsors for tax consultants in Kansas include the Big Four firms (Deloitte, KPMG, EY, and PwC) operating in the Kansas City metro area, along with regional accounting firms such as BKD (now Forvis Mazars) and CBIZ. Large corporate employers in Wichita's aviation sector, including Spirit AeroSystems and Koch Industries-affiliated entities, also sponsor tax professionals for specialized compliance and transfer pricing roles.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax consultants in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field. CPA-qualified candidates from Australia may be eligible for the E-3 visa. Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials can explore the TN visa under the USMCA, which covers accountants as a designated profession.
Which cities in Kansas have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro area, which straddles the Kansas-Missouri border, is the primary hub for tax consultant sponsorship in Kansas, hosting the largest concentration of accounting firms and corporate tax departments. Wichita is the second-largest market, driven by its manufacturing, aviation, and energy industries. Overland Park, as part of the Kansas City metro, has a notable presence of financial services and professional services firms that sponsor international tax talent.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a direct way to find tax consultant roles in Kansas filtered by sponsorship status. You can search by role and state to surface employers in Wichita, Overland Park, and the Kansas City metro who have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B or other work visas for accounting and tax positions, saving significant research time.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for tax consultants seeking visa sponsorship?
Kansas employers sponsoring H-1B workers for tax consultant roles must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the position and location, which is determined by the specific city and experience level rather than a single statewide figure. Kansas does not have state-level immigration requirements that differ from federal rules. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce accounting graduates who sometimes transition to sponsored roles through OPT, creating a pipeline that some Kansas firms actively use.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
