Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Texas?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, have significant Texas offices and regularly sponsor H-1B visas for tax consultants. Large Texas-headquartered corporations such as ExxonMobil, AT&T, and American Airlines also hire international tax professionals. Regional CPA firms and specialized transfer pricing consultancies in Dallas and Houston round out the sponsoring employer pool, particularly for international and corporate tax roles.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax consultants in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Candidates with CPA credentials or a master's in taxation strengthen their petitions. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose tax roles meet the accountant category under USMCA. Some senior tax professionals pursue O-1A status based on demonstrated excellence in the field.
Which cities in Texas have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Dallas and Houston generate the largest volume of tax consultant sponsorship jobs in Texas. Dallas benefits from a dense concentration of corporate headquarters and professional services firms in the Uptown and Las Colinas corridors. Houston's energy sector drives strong demand for international tax and transfer pricing specialists. Austin is growing steadily as technology companies establish finance functions there, while San Antonio offers opportunities primarily through financial services and healthcare organizations.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship jobs, including tax consultant roles across Texas. You can filter by state and role to surface employers with active sponsorship history rather than sifting through listings from companies unlikely to support visa applicants. Focusing your search on Big Four offices, Fortune 500 tax departments, and transfer pricing boutiques in Dallas and Houston will yield the most relevant results on Migrate Mate.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for tax consultant visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which makes it an attractive base for employers and can influence how tax departments are structured, often requiring professionals with strong federal and international tax expertise rather than state tax specialists. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage for tax consultants is determined by the relevant metropolitan statistical area, so Houston, Dallas, and Austin each carry different wage benchmarks that employers must meet when filing a Labor Condition Application. Candidates with credentials in international taxation or transfer pricing tend to find the most sponsorship opportunities given Texas's heavy multinational employer presence.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
