Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Tennessee?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, Ernst & Young, and KPMG, have offices in Nashville and Memphis and have established track records of sponsoring H-1B visas for tax consultants. Regional firms such as Dixon Hughes Goodman and Carr, Riggs & Ingram also hire internationally. Corporate tax departments at Tennessee-headquartered companies in healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing represent additional sponsorship opportunities.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax consultants in Tennessee, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Candidates with credentials from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. Those with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, which includes accountants as a qualifying profession.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Nashville concentrates the largest share of tax consultant sponsorship opportunities, driven by its growing corporate headquarters presence and Big Four office footprints. Memphis offers additional openings through its logistics, healthcare, and regional banking sectors. Knoxville has a smaller but active market, partly supported by proximity to the University of Tennessee, which produces accounting graduates who attract employer attention from regional and national firms.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify tax consultant roles in Tennessee where employers are actively open to sponsoring international candidates. You can search by state and role to surface relevant openings at public accounting firms, corporate tax departments, and consulting practices across Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax consultants seeking sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which can influence how corporate tax departments structure their work and the types of tax expertise they prioritize. Employers sponsoring H-1B workers must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the specific role and location, determined by the Standard Occupational Classification for tax consultants in the relevant Tennessee metro area. CPA licensure requirements in Tennessee may also factor into role eligibility for senior positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
