Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Massachusetts?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, are the most consistent H-1B visa sponsors for tax consultant roles in Massachusetts, with offices concentrated in Boston. Mid-size firms like RSM and Grant Thornton also file sponsorships in the state. Beyond public accounting, financial services firms and large biotech companies headquartered in the Boston area have sponsored tax professionals as their in-house tax functions have grown.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for tax consultants in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Candidates with a relevant master's degree may be eligible for the H-1B advanced degree exemption, which carries a separate cap. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in accountant or financial analyst capacities that overlap with tax consulting.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Boston is by far the dominant market, housing the regional offices of every major accounting firm and a large concentration of financial services and life sciences employers. Cambridge is a secondary hub due to its proximity to MIT and Harvard and the biotech cluster those institutions anchor. Worcester and Springfield have smaller but active markets, primarily tied to regional accounting firms and mid-size manufacturing or healthcare employers that sponsor tax professionals.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters tax consultant roles in Massachusetts by verified sponsorship history, so you are not wading through listings that do not support visa candidates. The platform surfaces openings at Big Four firms, regional accounting practices, and corporate tax departments across Boston and the wider state. Filtering by role and location on Migrate Mate gives you a focused view of which Massachusetts employers are actively hiring internationally.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for tax consultant visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts employers filing H-1B petitions for tax consultants must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Boston-Cambridge-Newton metropolitan area, which is one of the higher-cost markets in the country. The state's concentration of top accounting programs at schools like Northeastern, Boston College, and Bentley University creates a strong local pipeline that sponsored candidates often come through. Corporate tax roles tied to Massachusetts-based biotech and asset management firms tend to offer consistent sponsorship given the specialized technical tax knowledge those industries require.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
