Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Wisconsin?
The Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all have Wisconsin offices and documented histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for tax roles. Regional firms with significant Wisconsin presence, including Baker Tilly, Wipfli, and RSM, also sponsor tax consultants. Large Wisconsin-headquartered corporations such as Northwestern Mutual and Fiserv occasionally sponsor in-house tax positions as well.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax consultants in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, which covers accountants. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery requirement.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee accounts for the largest share of tax consultant sponsorship activity in Wisconsin, driven by its concentration of accounting firms and corporate headquarters. Madison is the second most active market, supported by proximity to state government, the University of Wisconsin, and a growing professional services sector. Green Bay and Appleton have smaller but active accounting markets tied to manufacturing and insurance industries.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate lets you filter tax consultant jobs specifically by visa sponsorship and state, making it straightforward to identify Wisconsin employers actively hiring international candidates. Because sponsorship willingness is not always stated in job postings, filtering through Migrate Mate saves time compared to manually reviewing individual listings. Focus searches on Milwaukee and Madison, where Wisconsin sponsorship activity for tax roles is most concentrated.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax consultants seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin follows federal prevailing wage requirements for H-1B sponsorship, meaning employers must pay the DOL-determined wage for the specific tax consultant role and location. Milwaukee and Madison carry higher prevailing wages than smaller Wisconsin markets. Graduates from University of Wisconsin programs in accounting or taxation may have existing employer relationships from internships, which can accelerate sponsorship conversations with regional firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
