Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Oregon?
The most active sponsors for tax consultant roles in Oregon include the Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, and EY, all of which maintain Portland offices with international hiring track records. Beyond public accounting, large Oregon employers like Intel, Nike, and Precision Castparts have in-house tax teams that have historically filed H-1B visa petitions for qualified tax professionals.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for tax consultant positions in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, taxation, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also qualify under the TN visa, which lists accountants as an eligible profession and does not require lottery selection.
Which cities in Oregon have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the overwhelming majority of tax consultant sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its concentration of Big Four offices, regional accounting firms, and corporate headquarters. The adjacent metro corridor stretching through Beaverton and Hillsboro adds significant volume, particularly from Intel's campus operations. Salem and Eugene see occasional openings, primarily through regional CPA firms or state government-adjacent work.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Oregon-based tax consultant roles where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Because sponsorship is confirmed at the listing level, you can focus your applications on employers already open to international candidates rather than spending time researching each firm's immigration history separately.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for tax consultants seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon has no state income tax on corporate profits derived from certain sources, which shapes the type of tax work prominent here, particularly multistate apportionment and technology sector transfer pricing. Employers filing H-1B petitions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Portland metropolitan statistical area, which sets the wage floor for sponsored tax consultant positions. Candidates from Oregon State University and University of Oregon accounting programs also create a pipeline that some regional firms draw from when evaluating international graduate applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
