Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Missouri?
The most active sponsors for tax consultant roles in Missouri include the Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG) through their St. Louis and Kansas City offices, as well as regional firms like CliftonLarsonAllen and BKD (now Forvis Mazars). Large corporations headquartered or with major operations in Missouri, including Edward Jones and Centene, also sponsor tax professionals through internal finance and tax departments.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for tax consultants in Missouri, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Candidates with advanced credentials, such as a master's in taxation or CPA licensure, strengthen their petitions. L-1B visas are also used when candidates transfer from a foreign affiliated office of a multinational firm into a Missouri position.
Which cities in Missouri have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis accounts for the largest share of tax consultant sponsorship activity in Missouri, driven by its concentration of professional services firms, corporate headquarters, and financial institutions. Kansas City is a close second, with a strong presence of regional accounting firms and multinationals with Midwest operations. Columbia and Springfield see limited but occasional sponsorship tied to regional firms or university-affiliated employers.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search tax consultant roles in Missouri without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings at firms with verified H-1B filing histories in Missouri, including Big Four offices and regional accounting firms. It's a practical starting point for narrowing your search to employers already familiar with the sponsorship process for tax roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax consultants seeking sponsorship in Missouri?
Missouri does not impose state-level restrictions on H-1B sponsorship beyond federal requirements, but tax consultants should note that CPA licensure requirements in Missouri may affect role eligibility at some firms. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application certifying that the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the St. Louis or Kansas City metropolitan area, which the Department of Labor determines based on job duties and experience level, not just the job title.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
