Which companies sponsor visas for tax consultants in Nebraska?
Omaha-based employers are the primary source of tax consultant sponsorship in Nebraska. Large financial services and insurance firms, including those in the Berkshire Hathaway network, along with the Nebraska offices of national accounting firms such as KPMG, Deloitte, and BDO, have filed Labor Condition Applications for tax-related roles. Regional banks and publicly traded corporations headquartered in Omaha also sponsor for corporate tax and compliance positions.
Which visa types are most common for tax consultant roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for tax consultants in Nebraska, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Candidates with a master's degree may benefit from the advanced degree exemption in the H-1B cap selection process. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying accountant or financial analyst roles under USMCA.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most tax consultant sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the large majority of tax consultant sponsorship activity in Nebraska, driven by its dense concentration of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and professional services firms. Lincoln sees secondary demand, particularly from employers serving state government, healthcare, and the University of Nebraska system. Smaller markets in Nebraska rarely generate sufficient tax consulting volume to support visa sponsorship.
How to find tax consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles, including tax consultant positions in Nebraska. You can filter directly by state and role to see employers in Omaha and Lincoln who have active sponsorship history. Because Migrate Mate focuses on sponsorship-verified listings, it saves time compared to sorting through general job postings where sponsorship eligibility is unclear for international applicants.
Are there any state-specific considerations for tax consultants seeking sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska does not impose additional state-level licensing requirements beyond the federal CPA credential for most tax consultant roles, but employers must still meet DOL prevailing wage requirements specific to the Omaha or Lincoln metropolitan areas when filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application. Candidates with international tax expertise, particularly in cross-border transactions or transfer pricing, tend to be more competitive given the international business activity among Omaha's larger corporate employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax consultant jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
