Which finance companies in Oregon sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Oregon-based finance employers with documented histories of sponsoring international candidates include Umpqua Bank, OnPoint Community Credit Union, Pacific Premier Bank, and fintech firms operating out of Portland's tech corridor. Larger regional insurers such as Cambia Health Solutions also hire in quantitative finance roles. STEM OPT sponsorship is most common in companies that already have structured international hiring processes and active LCA filings with the DOL.
Which cities in Oregon have the most finance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the substantial majority of finance STEM OPT sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its concentration of regional banks, credit unions, insurance companies, and fintech startups. Salem, as the state capital, offers some opportunities in government-adjacent financial services and compliance roles. Eugene has a smaller but present finance sector tied to the University of Oregon's research and business community, which occasionally generates entry-level analytical hiring.
What types of finance roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must fall under USCIS-designated STEM Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes and involve direct application of STEM skills. In finance, this typically means financial analyst, quantitative analyst, risk analyst, data scientist, actuary, and financial engineering positions. General roles such as loan officer, financial advisor, or retail banking associate usually do not qualify because they don't require the application of STEM knowledge as defined by USCIS guidelines.
How do I find finance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters finance job listings in Oregon by visa sponsorship type, including F-1 STEM OPT. You can search by city, role, and employer sponsorship history rather than manually sifting through listings that don't address visa status. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified LCA filing records in finance, so you spend less time on outreach to companies that don't sponsor STEM OPT candidates.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in finance?
Oregon does not impose state-level licensing requirements that uniquely restrict STEM OPT participation in finance beyond federal rules, but certain roles in securities, insurance, or investment advising may require state-issued licenses that have their own eligibility criteria. STEM OPT students must also ensure their employer is enrolled in E-Verify, which is federally required for all STEM OPT extensions. Oregon's finance sector skews toward banking and insurance rather than capital markets, which shapes the types of STEM OPT-eligible roles available.
