Which companies sponsor visas for cloud data engineers in South Carolina?
Financial technology firms, large manufacturers, and healthcare networks are among the most active sponsors in South Carolina. Companies like BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, Michelin North America in Greenville, and major hospital systems such as Prisma Health and MUSC have sponsored engineering and technical roles. Large consulting firms and cloud service integrators operating in Columbia and Charleston also appear regularly in Department of Labor H-1B visa disclosure data for cloud and data engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud data engineers in South Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B status through intracompany transfers at multinational manufacturers like BMW or Michelin are also present in the state. Australian citizens may explore the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B cap process.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search cloud data engineer roles in South Carolina without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform is designed for international candidates, showing open roles at employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. Filtering by South Carolina on Migrate Mate surfaces positions in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston where sponsorship-willing employers are actively hiring.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Greenville and Spartanburg lead due to the concentration of advanced manufacturing headquarters, particularly in the automotive and tire sectors, which run significant data and cloud infrastructure. Columbia attracts roles through state government IT contracts, the University of South Carolina's research operations, and regional insurance and financial services employers. Charleston is a smaller but growing market, with cybersecurity and cloud firms drawn by the military and defense technology presence at Joint Base Charleston.
Are there state-specific considerations for cloud data engineers seeking sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's sponsorship activity is closely tied to its manufacturing and healthcare sectors rather than a traditional tech hub, so prevailing wage benchmarks are set against regional rates rather than coastal city equivalents. Employers filing Labor Condition Applications must meet Department of Labor wage requirements for the Greenville or Columbia metropolitan areas, which differ from national averages. Candidates with cloud infrastructure experience relevant to industrial IoT, supply chain analytics, or healthcare data platforms tend to align well with the state's dominant hiring industries.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
