INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. The Purchasing Integrations team is responsible for the JavaScript SDK and frontend infrastructure that power Affirm at checkout. We build the library that merchants embed directly into their storefronts - rendering payment messaging and buttons, initiating checkout flows, and orchestrating secure, real-time communication with Affirm’s web app. This code runs on high-traffic production sites, so performance, resiliency, and backward compatibility are critical. Milliseconds matter, and failure is immediately visible to merchants and consumers. This role is deeply frontend-focused. Engineers work on bundle optimization, script loading strategies, rendering performance, and Web Vitals, ensuring our SDK integrates cleanly into diverse merchant stacks without degrading UX. We design extensible UI components that support evolving checkout experiences while keeping integration simple and incremental for developers. Security enhancements and modern browser-based communication patterns are core to the work. The team operates at the intersection of platform and product: building reusable primitives, experimenting with new checkout surfaces, and translating complex requirements into intuitive APIs and polished UI. It’s an opportunity to work on high-scale frontend systems embedded across the web—where engineering rigor directly impacts conversion, growth, and user experience.

Which finance companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in South Dakota?
Sioux Falls hosts several large financial institutions with documented STEM OPT hiring histories, including Citibank, Wells Fargo, and Citi Cards. Regional banks and credit unions such as Great Plains Energy and First Premier Bank also recruit quantitative and technology-focused finance graduates. Sponsoring employers are typically those operating analytical, data-driven, or fintech divisions where STEM degree alignment with the role can be clearly established.
Which cities in South Dakota have the most finance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Sioux Falls accounts for the large majority of finance STEM OPT opportunities in South Dakota. It is the state's financial hub, housing national bank processing centers, insurance company headquarters, and fintech operations. Rapid City has a smaller but growing financial services presence. Outside these two cities, finance STEM OPT sponsorship opportunities are limited, so most international students focus their search on Sioux Falls employers.
What types of finance roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must be directly related to a STEM-designated degree program, such as quantitative finance, financial engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or economics with a quantitative focus. Common qualifying titles in South Dakota finance include data analyst, quantitative risk analyst, financial systems analyst, and credit modeling analyst. General relationship manager or sales-oriented finance roles often do not qualify because they lack a direct STEM degree connection.
How do I find finance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in South Dakota?
Migrate Mate filters finance job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, letting you search for South Dakota employers who have sponsored F-1 STEM OPT candidates. Because not all employers advertise sponsorship availability upfront, Migrate Mate uses DOL Labor Condition Application filing data to surface companies with verified sponsorship histories in banking and financial services. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to employers unlikely to sponsor STEM OPT workers.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT in South Dakota finance?
South Dakota's favorable banking regulations have attracted large national card-processing and consumer finance operations to Sioux Falls, meaning many employers are subsidiaries of out-of-state parent companies. STEM OPT authorization requires your role to be a paid, qualifying position directly related to your degree, and your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify. Candidates should confirm that the specific Sioux Falls subsidiary, not just the parent company, is listed as the E-Verify participant before accepting an offer.
