Which companies sponsor visas for pharmacy interns in Tennessee?
Large hospital systems and retail pharmacy chains account for most visa sponsorship activity for pharmacy interns in Tennessee. Employers like Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Baptist Memorial Health Care, and regional branches of CVS Health and Walgreens have sponsored pharmacy roles in the past. Academic medical centers tend to have more formal sponsorship infrastructure than independent community pharmacies, which rarely sponsor visas.
Which visa types are most common for pharmacy intern roles in Tennessee?
Most international pharmacy interns in Tennessee work under F-1 OPT or STEM OPT if their pharmacy program qualifies, giving them up to three years of work authorization without employer-filed petitions. H-1B sponsorship becomes relevant after graduation when transitioning to a licensed pharmacist role. J-1 exchange visitor status is occasionally used for pharmacy training programs affiliated with academic medical centers.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most pharmacy intern sponsorship jobs?
Nashville and Memphis lead Tennessee for pharmacy intern opportunities with visa sponsorship. Nashville's concentration of large hospital systems, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center and HCA Healthcare facilities, drives significant demand. Memphis is anchored by Baptist Memorial and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Knoxville also has openings tied to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and regional hospital networks.
How to find pharmacy intern visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters pharmacy intern job listings in Tennessee specifically to roles where employers have a history of visa sponsorship, which saves time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship later. You can search by city within Tennessee to prioritize markets like Nashville or Memphis. Migrate Mate also provides context on which employers have filed for work visas in pharmacy-related occupations.
Are there state-specific considerations for pharmacy interns seeking visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee requires pharmacy interns to hold an active state intern registration through the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy, which is separate from any federal visa authorization. International students on OPT must ensure their internship site and role meet the terms of their authorized employment. University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and Belmont University's School of Pharmacy both have pipelines that connect students to Tennessee-based hospital employers familiar with international student hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmacy intern jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
