INTRODUCTION
We are seeking an AI Software Engineer to design and build agentic AI systems that automate real business processes. This role is ideal for a strong software engineer who applies AI to workflow automation, system integration, and decision‑making - rather than a profile centered on analytics, reporting, or visualization. You will help develop an AI agent platform that takes action: triggering workflows, integrating with enterprise systems, and enabling business teams to focus on their problems without managing underlying AI infrastructure.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and build agent‑based AI solutions that automate workflows, trigger system actions, and improve operational efficiency
Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate real‑world needs into scalable AI‑driven solutions
Design and implement cloud‑native AI architectures using Microsoft Azure and established AI design patterns
Build APIs and backend services that embed AI capabilities into enterprise systems
Collaborate with AI Engineers and ML Engineers to evolve prototypes into production‑ready, enterprise‑scale platforms
Build, deploy, and operate ML pipelines with an emphasis on reliability, performance, and security
Orchestrate infrastructure for low‑latency, resilient AI workloads using infrastructure‑as‑code and automation
Contribute reusable accelerators, templates, and patterns that increase delivery speed and consistency
* Support CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and operational best practices for AI systems in production
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Strong software engineering background with hands‑on applied AI experience
Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, including AI/ML services and cloud‑native architectures
Hands‑on experience deploying and operating ML pipelines using Azure Machine Learning
Proficiency in Python and modern software engineering practices
Experience building APIs and automation for workflow and process orchestration
Strong understanding of MLOps, model lifecycle management, and CI/CD for AI systems
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible)
* Working knowledge of security, identity, and access control in enterprise cloud environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience building or operating agentic AI systems
Familiarity with Microsoft Foundry
Experience with data engineering platforms such as Databricks, Spark, or Azure Data Factory
Experience integrating AI services (e.g., cognitive services, computer vision, unstructured data processing)
Experience
5+ years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or machine learning engineering
Proven experience delivering production AI or ML solutions in a cloud environment
* Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams across engineering, architecture, and business functions
WAYS OF WORKING
Ability to work independently as a contractor while integrating effectively with an established team
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
Results‑oriented mindset focused on delivery and tangible business value*

Which companies sponsor visas for AI software developers in Texas?
Several large employers in Texas have consistent track records of sponsoring work visas for AI software developers. Dell Technologies and Texas Instruments in Austin and Dallas are well-established sponsors. Beyond legacy tech, companies like Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Houston, AT&T in Dallas, and a range of AI-focused startups in the Austin tech corridor regularly file H-1B petitions for roles in machine learning, natural language processing, and AI infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for AI software developer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for AI software developers in Texas, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, AI, or a related field. Applicants with advanced degrees may benefit from the master's cap exemption during the H-1B lottery. Candidates with extraordinary ability in AI research may also qualify for the O-1A visa, which has no annual cap.
Which cities in Texas have the most AI software developer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for AI software developer sponsorship activity, fueled by a dense concentration of tech companies and a strong pipeline from UT Austin. Dallas-Fort Worth ranks second, with large enterprise employers and a growing AI startup scene. Houston contributes meaningful volume through energy-tech and healthcare-AI companies applying machine learning to industry-specific problems. San Antonio has a smaller but emerging presence driven by cybersecurity and defense-adjacent AI roles.
How to find ai software developer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter AI software developer roles by state, including Texas. Unlike general job boards, every listing on Migrate Mate is screened for sponsorship willingness, saving time spent on roles that won't support a visa. Filtering by Texas surfaces opportunities across Austin, Dallas, and Houston from employers with documented sponsorship histories in AI and software development.
Are there any Texas-specific factors AI software developers should know about visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations under the Department of Labor's methodology since cost-of-living factors into wage determinations by metropolitan area. Austin's rapid growth has pushed its prevailing wages higher year over year. Texas universities including UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice University produce significant AI research talent, meaning employers are well-accustomed to sponsoring international graduates from these institutions into full-time AI development roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai software developer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
