Which companies sponsor visas for data center jobs in Texas?
Several large operators and hyperscalers in Texas have a track record of H-1B sponsorship for data center roles. Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Equinix all have significant Texas footprints and have filed LCAs for data center technician and infrastructure engineering positions. Regional operators like QTS Data Centers and CyrusOne, both headquartered in or near Dallas, also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for sponsored roles.
Which visa types are most common for data center roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data center roles that require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as electrical engineering, computer science, or information technology. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupational categories. For senior infrastructure architects or engineers with demonstrated expertise, the O-1A is another pathway, though it requires substantial evidence of extraordinary ability.
Which cities in Texas have the most data center sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads by a significant margin, driven by low power costs, favorable tax conditions, and proximity to major fiber routes, which have attracted hyperscalers and colocation providers. San Antonio has grown steadily as a secondary hub, with Microsoft operating one of its largest U.S. campuses there. Houston rounds out the top three, supported by energy sector infrastructure and strong connectivity to Latin American networks.
How to find data center visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to show roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, saving you from manually screening hundreds of postings. For data center roles in Texas, you can filter by state and job category on Migrate Mate to surface relevant positions at operators, hyperscalers, and managed service providers actively hiring in Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston. This is especially useful if you're on a time-sensitive visa status.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for data center visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations under the Department of Labor's methodology since total compensation structures can differ from states with income tax withholding. Additionally, Texas hosts several university programs in electrical engineering and computer infrastructure, particularly at UT Austin and Texas A&M, that feed talent pipelines into data center employers, some of whom recruit internationally through OPT and then transition to H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data center jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
