Which companies sponsor visas for dental assistants in Texas?
Large dental service organizations (DSOs) are the most consistent sponsors in Texas. Aspen Dental, Heartland Dental, and Smile Brands operate multi-location networks across the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio metro areas and have established HR infrastructure for sponsorship. Independent private practices occasionally sponsor as well, though they typically rely on immigration attorneys on a case-by-case basis rather than having formal sponsorship programs.
Which visa types are most common for dental assistant roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most frequently pursued category for dental assistants, as the role can qualify as a specialty occupation when a specific degree in dental assisting or a related health science field is required. Some applicants also explore the TN visa if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet USMCA professional criteria. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before any H-1B petition can proceed.
Which cities in Texas have the most dental assistant sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth consistently post the highest volume of dental assistant openings in Texas, driven by large and growing metropolitan populations. San Antonio and Austin are also active markets, particularly as both cities have expanded significantly over the past decade. Smaller markets like El Paso and Lubbock have fewer openings overall but can have less competition, especially near university-affiliated dental clinics.
How to find dental assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and filters dental assistant roles in Texas by visa sponsorship availability, saving considerable time compared to sifting through general job listings. On Migrate Mate, you can search by role and state to surface employers actively hiring dental assistants in Texas who have indicated sponsorship willingness. Reviewing employer H-1B filing histories through DOL disclosure data can also help verify sponsorship track records before applying.
Are there state-specific requirements dental assistants should know when pursuing sponsorship in Texas?
Texas does not require dental assistants to hold a state license for most general assisting tasks, but performing expanded functions such as coronal polishing or taking radiographs requires certification through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. International candidates pursuing sponsorship should confirm their credentials align with the specific duties in the job description, since the scope of the H-1B specialty occupation determination depends on the degree requirements tied to those duties.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored dental assistant jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
