Which companies sponsor visas for dentists in Texas?
Dental service organizations are the most active visa sponsors for dentists in Texas. Aspen Dental, Bright Now! Dental, Pacific Dental Services, and Heartland Dental have multiple Texas locations and a track record of sponsoring foreign-trained dentists. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) across rural and underserved areas of Texas also regularly sponsor dentists, particularly through the H-1B and National Interest Waiver pathways.
Which visa types are most common for dentist roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for dentists in Texas, as dentistry qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a professional degree. The O-1A is an option for dentists with exceptional credentials, publications, or recognition. Internationally trained dentists who complete U.S. residencies may also explore the J-1 waiver pathway, which can convert J-1 status to work authorization through programs that place physicians and dentists in underserved areas.
Which cities in Texas have the most dentist sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston have the highest concentration of dentist sponsorship jobs in Texas, driven by large population bases and the presence of major dental group practices. San Antonio and Austin are growing markets with expanding dental networks. Rural and border regions, including the Rio Grande Valley, also see consistent demand through community health centers that actively recruit internationally trained dentists for underserved populations.
How to find dentist visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for dentist roles in Texas to see employers actively open to sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to researching individual dental groups. Migrate Mate also provides visa guidance specific to dental roles, helping you understand which opportunities align with your current status and qualifications.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for dentists seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas does not have state income tax, which affects overall compensation context, but dentists must still obtain a Texas State Board of Dental Examiners license regardless of visa type. Foreign-trained dentists typically need to complete a U.S. dental degree or residency program before practicing independently, which affects which visa pathways are available. Texas Health and Human Services also administers programs placing dentists in Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can support certain visa waiver applications.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored dentist jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
