Which companies sponsor visas for public health professionals in Texas?
Large hospital systems and academic medical centers lead public health visa sponsorship in Texas. UTHealth Houston, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White Health, and Texas Children's Hospital have established H-1B sponsorship histories. State agencies such as the Texas Department of State Health Services and county health departments also hire public health professionals, though sponsorship rates vary by position and budget cycle.
Which visa types are most common for public health roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for public health roles in Texas, covering positions like epidemiologists, biostatisticians, health program analysts, and public health scientists where a specialized degree is required. J-1 visas are also common for researchers and fellows at academic medical centers. EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories appear in permanent sponsorship cases, particularly at university-affiliated institutions and large health systems.
Which cities in Texas have the most public health visa sponsorship jobs?
Houston concentrates the highest volume of public health sponsorship jobs, anchored by the Texas Medical Center, UTHealth Houston, and Harris County Public Health. Austin is growing quickly with Dell Medical School and Austin Public Health. Dallas and San Antonio both have active markets through UT Southwestern, Parkland Health, and University Health, respectively. Academic and government employers in each of these cities tend to sponsor more consistently than private-sector employers.
How to find public health visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored roles, including public health positions across Texas. You can filter by state and role type to surface employers in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio who have active sponsorship histories. Because public health roles span epidemiology, health policy, biostatistics, and program management, searching across all of those categories on Migrate Mate gives the most complete picture of available opportunities.
Are there state-specific considerations for public health visa sponsorship in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects the overall compensation structure for public health roles. The Texas Medical Center in Houston, one of the largest medical complexes in the world, creates a high concentration of academic and research-focused public health positions that are more likely to support H-1B sponsorship. Candidates with MPH or DrPH degrees from Texas universities such as UTHealth School of Public Health or UT Austin often enter hiring pipelines with institutions already familiar with sponsoring international graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored public health jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
