This is a highly visible leadership opportunity within an organization that supports many of Schwab’s most important business areas, from marketing to client service, creating room to influence forward-looking AI opportunities across the enterprise. The role reports directly to the Head of the AI and Data Science organization for Charles Schwab and offers the scope, visibility, and strategic partnership that experienced AI/ML leaders look for in their next career-defining move. You will lead a cross-functional organization of around 10, with a heavy focus on Marketing, while also helping expand Schwab’s capabilities in NLP/NLU, LLMs, and Generative AI as priorities evolve. This is an opportunity to shape practical, enterprise-scale AI solutions that move beyond experimentation and into measurable business and client impact.
What you’ll do:

- Set and elevate engineering standards for data science by establishing best practices that treat data science as a rigorous engineering discipline, including modular code design, testing, version control, and production readiness.
- Advance technical capabilities in emerging areas by leading complex initiatives involving advanced machine learning, real-time and low-latency inference, or other evolving technologies that require deep technical expertise and comfort with ambiguity.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in data science, analytics, AI, and responsible innovation, bringing forward ideas that can create measurable value for Schwab and its clients.
What you have
Required Qualifications:

- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence, educate, and align stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to translate business and product needs into technology requirements while partnering effectively with engineering and platform teams.

Which companies sponsor visas for senior data science engineers in Texas?
Several large Texas-based employers have established H-1B visa sponsorship histories for senior data science engineering roles. These include Dell Technologies and NXP Semiconductors in Austin, AT&T and Capital One in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and ExxonMobil and Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Houston. Beyond these names, Texas has a growing presence of health tech firms, financial services companies, and defense contractors that regularly sponsor at the senior level.
Which cities in Texas have the most senior data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Houston account for the overwhelming majority of senior data science engineer sponsorship opportunities in Texas. Austin draws heavy interest from technology companies and startups with enterprise clients. Dallas-Fort Worth is a center for financial services, telecommunications, and retail analytics. Houston's energy sector and expanding medical center create distinct demand for data science talent at the senior engineer level.
How to find senior data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find senior data science engineer roles in Texas without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state, role level, and sponsorship type. Because senior data science engineers in Texas span energy, fintech, healthcare, and tech sectors, Migrate Mate's categorization helps narrow results to the most relevant opportunities for your background.
Which visa types are most common for senior data science engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for senior data science engineers in Texas, given that the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, statistics, or data science. Some candidates with prior U.S. employer relationships pursue L-1B intracompany transfers. Candidates with exceptional research records or publications may explore the O-1A. Australian citizens have access to the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for senior data science engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage benchmarks differently than in high-tax states, though Department of Labor wage determinations for H-1B purposes are based on the metropolitan statistical area of employment, not state tax policy. University pipelines from UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice University produce a steady local talent supply, meaning employers are selective at the senior level and typically sponsor candidates who bring specialized skills in areas like large-scale ML infrastructure, NLP, or computer vision.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior data science engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
