Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for senior data science engineers?
Several large Ohio employers have established H-1B visa sponsorship histories for senior data science engineers. JPMorgan Chase and Fifth Third Bank sponsor regularly for financial analytics roles in Columbus and Cincinnati. Nationwide Insurance and Progressive hire for insurance modeling positions. Kroger's technology arm in Cincinnati and Ohio State University's research divisions are also active sponsors in this space.
Which visa types are most common for senior data science engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for senior data science engineers in Ohio, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees may also pursue the EB-2 NIW pathway. Some university-affiliated positions support J-1 visa or O-1 visas depending on the candidate's profile.
Which Ohio cities have the most senior data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is Ohio's leading market for senior data science engineer sponsorship, driven by its large financial services and insurance employers alongside a strong tech startup ecosystem. Cincinnati ranks second, anchored by Kroger's data science operations and several regional banks. Cleveland offers opportunities in healthcare analytics through organizations like Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, which have sponsored technical roles in data science.
How to find senior data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find senior data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs filtered specifically to Ohio. The platform surfaces roles from employers with documented H-1B sponsorship activity, so you can focus on companies already willing to sponsor rather than filtering through listings that offer no clarity on immigration support. Filtering by Ohio lets you target Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati employers specifically.
Are there any Ohio-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for senior data science engineers?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific metropolitan area, so Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati each carry different wage thresholds for senior-level data science roles. Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University produce a steady pipeline of domestic and international data science talent, which means employers in those cities have established HR processes for sponsoring international hires at the senior level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior data science engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
