Tips for Finding TN Sponsorship Jobs in Vermont
Target Burlington's healthcare corridor first
The University of Vermont Medical Center and associated health system are Vermont's largest employers and consistent TN sponsors. Roles in pharmacy, nursing supervision, physical therapy, and clinical research align well with TN specialty occupation categories.
Follow UVM's research and academic hiring cycles
The University of Vermont posts faculty, researcher, and scientist positions that qualify for TN sponsorship. Academic hiring peaks in fall and winter, so monitoring UVM's careers portal during those windows gives you the earliest access to open roles.
Search verified TN-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Vermont's employer base is smaller than larger states, making it easy to miss active TN opportunities through general job boards. Migrate Mate filters by visa type so you can browse confirmed TN-sponsoring roles in Vermont without sorting through ineligible listings.
Look beyond Burlington into Chittenden County's tech cluster
Software companies, cybersecurity firms, and engineering consultancies in the greater Burlington and South Burlington area regularly hire for TN-eligible roles. Engineers, computer systems analysts, and scientific technologists are among the most commonly sponsored TN categories here.
Check for TN eligibility before applying, not after
Vermont employers, especially smaller ones, may be unfamiliar with TN sponsorship mechanics. Arriving at an interview already knowing your role qualifies under a listed TN occupation category, and being ready to explain the process briefly, significantly improves sponsorship conversations.
Use DOL disclosure data to identify active Vermont TN sponsors
The Department of Labor's public LCA disclosure database lists employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for TN workers in Vermont. Searching that data by state reveals which specific companies have a recent history of sponsoring TN professionals.

Which industries in Vermont sponsor the most TN visas?
Healthcare is the dominant TN visa sponsoring industry in Vermont, driven largely by the University of Vermont Health Network. Higher education and scientific research come second, with UVM and affiliated institutions sponsoring scientists, researchers, and engineers. A growing technology sector in Burlington also generates TN sponsorship for computer systems analysts and software engineers.
Which cities in Vermont have the most TN sponsorship jobs?
Burlington and South Burlington account for the clear majority of TN sponsorship activity in Vermont. As the state's economic center, Burlington hosts the largest hospital system, the flagship university, and most of the technology and professional services employers. Montpelier, the state capital, offers additional opportunities in government-adjacent professional services and consulting.
What types of roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship in Vermont?
In Vermont, the TN roles that appear most frequently include registered nurses in supervisory or specialized clinical capacities, pharmacists, physical therapists, engineers across civil and software disciplines, computer systems analysts, scientific researchers, and university-level academics. The role must fall within one of the USMCA-defined TN occupation categories and require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field.
How do I find TN sponsorship jobs in Vermont?
Start with Migrate Mate, which lists jobs specifically filtered for TN visa sponsorship so you are not manually screening out ineligible postings. Supplement that by monitoring the University of Vermont's careers page, the UVM Health Network's job portal, and DOL LCA disclosure data to identify Vermont employers with a documented history of TN sponsorship.
Are there any Vermont-specific considerations for TN sponsorship I should know about?
Vermont's smaller labor market means fewer total TN openings than larger states, but also less competition for roles that do open. Many Vermont employers are mid-size organizations or academic institutions that may have limited prior experience with TN sponsorship. Coming prepared with a clear explanation of TN requirements, including that no petition filing is required for Canadian citizens, can make a meaningful difference in sponsorship conversations.
