Which companies sponsor visas for software development managers in Washington?
Amazon and Microsoft are the most active sponsors for software development manager roles in Washington, with large engineering organizations headquartered in Seattle and Redmond respectively. Google, Meta, Salesforce, and Boeing also file H-1B petitions for management-level engineering roles in the state. Smaller high-growth companies and cloud infrastructure startups in the Seattle area have also sponsored software development managers, though at lower volumes.
Which visa types are most common for software development manager roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software development managers in Washington. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates with significant leadership experience and demonstrated expertise may also qualify for the O-1A. Australians holding a qualifying degree may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is available year-round.
Which cities in Washington have the most software development manager sponsorship jobs?
Seattle has the highest concentration of software development manager sponsorship jobs in Washington, driven by Amazon's headquarters and a dense cluster of tech companies. Redmond is a close second, anchored by Microsoft's global campus. Bellevue has grown significantly as Amazon expanded its presence there. Kirkland also hosts engineering offices for Google and other major tech employers, making the greater Seattle metro the clear center of gravity for this role.
How to find software development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters software development manager roles in Washington by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through postings from employers who won't sponsor. The platform covers major tech employers in Seattle, Redmond, and Bellevue. Because software development manager roles require employer-initiated petitions, focusing your search on companies with a documented sponsorship history in Washington is the most effective approach.
Are there state-specific considerations for software development manager sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations under the H-1B Labor Condition Application since compensation benchmarks are set against local market rates. The Seattle metro consistently registers among the highest prevailing wage tiers for software engineering management nationwide. Washington's large university system, including the University of Washington, also feeds a strong pipeline of international graduate students who may be transitioning from OPT to sponsored status when moving into management roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software development manager jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
