Responsibilities/Job Description:
Responsible for assisting the Pharmacy System Training Manager and Pharmacy System Training Specialists and Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator with curriculum design, development, implementation, and execution for new and existing employees of Fairview Pharmacy Services (FPS) Acute Care and Ambulatory Pharmacies as well as areas of Shared Clinical Services (SCS) and Fairview Clinics to ensure consistency and the highest standards of customer service, process improvement, compliance and quality control. This includes training and orientation, workflows, policies, competencies, and technical applications as well as ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of all stakeholders and in compliance with all applicable government and regulatory agency standards.
Responsibilities
Training Development:
- Partners with the Pharmacy System Training Manager, the Pharmacy System Training Specialists, and Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator to assist with identifying training needs, and propose solutions that are innovative, inspiring, efficient and in alignment with FPS objectives and other areas of Shared Clinical Services and Fairview Clinics as needed.
- Collaborates with others to continually evaluate and identify refinements to training for all FPS employees as needed to remain compliant with applicable government and regulatory agency standards.
- Partners with the Pharmacy System Training Manager, the Pharmacy System Training Specialists, and Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator to apply updates to FPS training to incorporate upgrades and updates to system applications, system and department policies and workflows and develops effective ways to deliver upgrade/update information to current staff to remain compliant with applicable government and regulatory agency standards.
- Creates high-quality, professional-grade resources (PowerPoint Presentations, Job aids, tip sheets….) as well as learning materials to supplement and reinforce messaging in partnership and with approval from either the Pharmacy System Training Manager, Pharmacy System Training Specialists or Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator.
Training Execution:
- Employs knowledge of learning styles and utilizing various techniques, design, organize, and execute training programs for new and current pharmacy staff to ensure maximum productivity, competency, consistency, safety, and the highest standards of customer service.
- Conducts face-to-face and virtual classroom/educational sessions for a variety of audiences as well as at work site locations as needed.
- Adjusts style to address group dynamics to ensure an environment conducive to learning.
- Provides necessary software training to all employees and keeps learning materials current.
- Cross trains with other training staff in necessary areas.
Quality Improvement:
- Conducts ongoing analyses of implemented training programs and competencies and continually refines and enhances as necessary to meet the needs of employees, pharmacy departments, and pharmacy regulations and other areas of Shared Clinical Services and Fairview Clinics in partnership with the Pharmacy System Training Manager and/or the Pharmacy System Training Specialists and/or the Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator.
- Solicits feedback from staff, supervisors, managers, and new employees. Utilizes the feedback for ongoing process improvement in training.
- Recommends and implements changes in methods or procedures to increase the efficiency, competency and safety of the sites and maximize productivity with approval from either the Pharmacy System Training Manager and/or the Pharmacy System Training Specialists and/or the Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator.
- Assists the Pharmacy System Training Manager and/or the Pharmacy System Training Specialists and/or the Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator with all FPS competency and compliance requirements utilizing standards of practice to ensure regulatory and compliance policies are upheld.
Purpose and Planning:
- Evaluates course offerings and resolves barriers to learning in partnership with the Pharmacy System Training Manager and/or the Pharmacy System Training Specialists and/or the Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator.
- Ensures that all offered learning solutions are supported with clear learning objectives, a high level of interactivity, and direct role application.
- Follows through the process with subject matter experts to ensure all materials are correct from a content perspective and in compliance with applicable government, and regulatory agency standards.
- Utilizes the System LMS as an administrator for all of FPS.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of project planning.
- Develops plan for small projects along with the Pharmacy System Training Manager and/or the Pharmacy System Training Specialists and/or the Pharmacy System Sr. Training Coordinator.
Employee Development:
- As part of the Pharmacy System Training Team, partners with FPS leaders to identify knowledge or skill deficits of individual employees, and provide one-on-one education and training, as needed, to ensure opportunities for employees’ success.
Other Projects and Responsibilities:
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by such methods as attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, etc.
- Facilitates meetings, ensuring stakeholder engagement, appropriate and timely information, and tracking methodologies. Supports organizational strategies, priorities, and initiatives.
- Oversees competencies and/or training compliance of at least 2 or more pharmacy sites with assistance as needed from Pharmacy System Training Sr. Training Coordinator or Pharmacy System Training Specialists or Pharmacy System Sr. Training Specialists.
- Maintains a flexible schedule to meet training and coverage needs of FPS and SCS areas.
- Serves as a pharmacy practice resource for personnel throughout Fairview and the healthcare community at large.
- Organizes and maintains employee training records according to M Health Fairview and FPS policies and regulations.
- Assists with the development and revisions of FPS policies and procedures to remain compliant with applicable government and regulatory agency standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Vocational/Technical Pharmacy Technician Training Program or Degree or A.A./A.S. in health care or related field OR equivalent experience.
- 3 years previous experience in a pharmacy technician role.
- 1 year of experience with pharmacy training role or a pharmacy preceptor role.
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities within a healthcare setting including coordinating day-to-day business operations and/or training.
- Excellent customer service skills, proficient in English language, capable of solving problems effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, and competent mathematical skills.
- Proficient computer skills in business applications including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint).
- Pharmacy Technician MN.
- Pharmacy Technician Natl National Pharmacy Technician Certification - If not Nationally Certified, will be required to obtain Pharmacy Technician National Certification within 12 months in this position within 1 Year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A.A./A.S. or B.S./B.A.
- Pharmacy experience infusion therapies, ambulatory and/or hospital setting.
- Any applicable Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certificate.
