The Vice President, Business Services Group position exists to provide executive leadership for business operations, organizational performance, business intelligence, data governance, project portfolio management, and strategic execution across Focus on the Family. This role translates ministry priorities into actionable plans, measurable outcomes, and effective organizational execution by overseeing enterprise planning, prioritization, implementation, and performance monitoring.
The position establishes and maintains the systems, processes, data structures, governance frameworks, and reporting capabilities needed to support informed decision-making and organizational alignment. Serving as a key operational partner to executive leadership, this position ensures that organizational resources are aligned with ministry objectives and long-term vision.
The role provides leadership to teams responsible for business analysis, business intelligence, data governance, process improvement, program and project management, research and insights, organizational reporting, and digital asset management. By leading researchers, analysts, and project leadership functions, this position helps ensure that strategic initiatives are supported by timely, accurate, and actionable information that improves planning, audience targeting, new product development, and the measurement of key ministry objectives.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic leadership for the integration of constituent reporting, constituent research, and organizational insight so that Focus on the Family maintains a comprehensive and actionable view of its constituents, including donation activity, product purchasing, and content consumption behavior
- Ensures the organization has reliable baseline data to identify year-over-year and long-term trends that inform strategic planning and decision-making for executive leadership
- Ensures that enterprise programs, projects, and initiatives are aligned with ministry objectives and executed within organizational capacity. This includes overseeing enterprise-level planning, prioritization, governance, scheduling, and progress monitoring so that high-priority initiatives have the greatest probability of success and efficiency
- Helps ministry leaders interpret and apply research, analytics, and business intelligence to operational and strategic decisions
- Identifies opportunities for cross-functional leverage of information, and communicates at the executive level to connect data-driven insight with ministry priorities
- Translates executive vision into actionable plans, measurable objectives, and organizational roadmaps
- Evaluates priorities and advises on resource allocation, capacity planning, and initiative sequencing
- Maintains enterprise accountability systems that monitor progress against strategic goals
- Supports special projects and enterprise initiatives as assigned by executive leadership
- Oversees business intelligence, data management, and organizational reporting functions through the development and maintenance of enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and best practices
- Ensures data quality, consistency, accessibility, and compliance across organizational systems; overseeing dashboards, scorecards, key performance indicators, and executive reporting tools; analyzing operational, financial, audience, and strategic data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance gaps
- Provides executive leadership with timely, accurate, and actionable information for ministry planning and decision-making
- Promotes broader organizational capability in data-informed decision-making by strengthening reporting practices and analytical maturity
- Leads program and project management functions by overseeing the organizational portfolio of strategic initiatives, the master initiative schedule, executive dashboards, and project reporting
- Establishes project governance standards, methodologies, and reporting frameworks
- Ensures that projects are properly prioritized, resourced, monitored, and executed
- Provides executive visibility into project status, outcomes, dependencies, risks, and organizational capacity
- Supports stewardship through cost optimization, operational efficiency, and alignment of resources with ministry priorities
- Develops, leads, and evaluates high-performing teams and fosters a collaborative, service-oriented, and accountable culture
- Builds organizational capabilities in strategic planning, analytics, project management, and business process improvement
- Oversees the execution of research and insights for the benefit of the entire ministry and ensures findings are communicated in ways that inform ministry strategies and organizational decision-making
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participates in executive leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, and ministry-wide initiatives
- Represents the ministry at organizational, donor, and stakeholder events as assigned
- Serves as a strategic advisor and collaborative partner to executive leadership
- Performs other duties as assigned
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job
- Provides executive leadership and oversight for the Business Services Group
- Leads through direct authority and influence across cross-functional teams and organizational stakeholders
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Works primarily in an office environment.
- May require domestic travel
- May require evening and weekend commitments
- Travel may include ministry events, leadership meetings, donor engagement activities, strategic planning sessions, and other organizational initiatives
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Character/Spiritual:
Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...”
Pursues the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Family's ministry in prayer
Prays personally for Focus on the Family’s staff and constituents and may occasionally lead in a public prayer

- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience
- 10+ years of experience leading complex organizations, ministry functions, business units, or major strategic initiatives
- 10+ years of experience in Technical Reporting and Business Analysis (or equivalent work experience)
- Proven success in developing and executing strategic plans and advancing organizational priorities
- Experience leading organizational change, business transformation, or enterprise-wide initiatives
- Experience developing and managing executive-level metrics, dashboards, and performance indicators
- Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to drive strategic decision-making and improve organizational outcomes
- Strong ability to think strategically and lead effectively in complex organizational environments
- Previous experience in coordinating business process and project management

Stewardship Requirements:
- Must understand a donor-based budgeting system and have a passion for protecting donor-provided funds

- Understands and effectively manages within a donor-supported ministry environment
Pay Range: $151,840 to $176,332
