Wealth Advisor Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a wealth advisor job in Chicago?
Chicago's wealth advisor market is concentrated in the Loop and River North, where private banks, independent RIAs, and insurance-linked wealth firms cluster most densely. Candidates with Series 7 and 65 licenses and a book of business get the fastest traction, but strong candidates without a book can break in through wirehouse training programs. Familiarity with the local high-net-worth market, including Chicago's tech and private equity communities, gives applicants a clear edge over generalist candidates.
Which companies hire wealth advisors in Chicago?
Employers hiring wealth advisors in Chicago right now include JPMorganChase, Goldman Sachs, and Citi, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Chicago's market includes a broad mix of national wirehouses with large local offices, regional independents headquartered downtown, and insurance-affiliated wealth management firms spread across the metro.
Are there remote wealth advisor jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though remote availability is limited because wealth advisor work is relationship-driven and most roles expect client-facing presence. About 17% of wealth advisor openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, skewing toward roles in financial planning, portfolio analysis, and paraplanning rather than client-acquisition or relationship management positions.
How can I get a wealth advisor job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is a wirehouse or regional bank training program, where firms like those concentrated in the Loop hire associate advisors and put them through licensing and client-development tracks. Entry-level paraplanner and financial planning associate roles at Chicago's independent RIAs are another common door in. Holding or actively pursuing a Series 7, Series 66, or CFP designation signals serious intent and accelerates consideration at most Chicago firms.
Which industries hire the most wealth advisors in Chicago?
Most wealth advisor openings in Chicago sit in Banking & Financial Services, Investment & Asset Management, and Accounting & Auditing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Chicago's deep concentration of institutional finance, insurance headquarters, and private equity firms sustains consistent demand across those sectors beyond what most other Midwest cities generate.
