Wealth Management Advisor Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a wealth management advisor job in Chicago?
Focus your search on the Loop and River North, where the highest concentration of private banks, wirehouses, and independent RIAs operate. Chicago's deep financial services and insurance sectors create consistent demand, so targeting firms with a strong Midwest institutional or ultra-high-net-worth client base gives you an edge. Candidates who bring a CFP designation, Series 65 or 66 licensing, and demonstrated client relationship experience stand out in this market.
Which companies hire wealth management advisors in Chicago?
Employers hiring wealth management advisors in Chicago right now include JPMorganChase, Citi, and RK Partners, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's market includes a mix of global wirehouses, regional broker-dealers, community banks with private banking arms, and fee-only RIAs serving the city's large base of corporate executives and institutional clients.
Are there remote wealth management advisor jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though partially: client-facing advisory roles require in-person relationship management, while planning, analysis, and portfolio support functions are more remote-friendly. About 47% of wealth management advisor openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at larger firms headquartered in the Loop. Paraplanner and financial planning associate roles tend to offer the most scheduling flexibility.
How can I get a wealth management advisor job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is a client associate or paraplanner role at one of the city's many independent RIAs or regional broker-dealers, where you support senior advisors and build planning skills directly. Chicago's large financial services and insurance sector also hires entry-level candidates into structured training programs, particularly at firms with Midwest headquarters. Completing your SIE exam before applying and seeking out firms that offer sponsored Series 7 or CFP study programs gives you a concrete edge locally.
Which industries hire the most wealth management advisors in Chicago?
The sectors hiring the most wealth management advisors in Chicago are Banking & Financial Services, Investment & Asset Management, and Accounting & Auditing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's status as a major financial hub for the Midwest, combined with its large base of corporate headquarters and institutional investors, keeps demand for advisors concentrated in these sectors year-round.
