Reports to: Knoxville Plant Manager
Cooperates with: Welding, Fabrication, Substrate Assembly, Shipping
Primary Responsibility:
The welder has primary responsibility of MIG & TIG welding of aluminum and steel (also, stainless steel) parts. Each job must be run with safety, accuracy and timeliness in the welding area.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG & TIG welding based on product needs; welding round and rectangular elements.
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams to perform necessary task.
- Knowledge of QC and product specifications.
- De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
- Conserve resources wherever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction.
- Knowledge of welding safety procedures and willingness to use PPE's provided.
- Ability to perform Substrate Assembly Technician duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- 1 + year(s) experience with metal working equipment in a metal fabrication facility.
- Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to produce high quality products in a timely manner.
- Proficient in the use of tools such as tape measure, calipers, forklifts, and cranes.
- Welding certification a plus.
- Prior work experience as a MIG or TIG welder helpful.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. individually and heavier items with team lift.
- Knowledge of safe workplace practices.
