Accounting Intern Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting intern in Idaho?
The most direct path is enrolling in an accredited accounting program at a Boise State University, University of Idaho, or Idaho State University and applying for internships during your sophomore or junior year. Idaho does not require licensure to work as an intern, but employers expect active progress toward the 150 credit hours needed to sit for the CPA exam through the Idaho State Board of Accountancy. Completing introductory tax and audit coursework before applying gives candidates a clear advantage.
Which companies hire accounting interns in Idaho?
Employers hiring accounting interns in Idaho right now include ICCU, University of Idaho, and EUTELSAT, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Idaho's concentration of technology manufacturers, regional healthcare systems, and state government agencies creates a broad and varied internship market beyond just public accounting firms.
Which Idaho cities have the most accounting intern jobs?
Meridian, Boise, and Idaho Falls account for the largest share of accounting intern openings in Idaho. Boise drives the majority of postings as the state's commercial and government hub, while Idaho Falls benefits from the presence of major energy and federal contracting employers, and Pocatello draws openings from Idaho State University and regional healthcare networks.
Are there remote accounting intern jobs in Idaho?
Yes, and more than some fields, since much of the work involves spreadsheets, software, and document review that translates well to remote settings. About 22% of accounting intern openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which is notable for an entry-level role. Tax support and accounts payable tasks are the functions most commonly offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a accounting intern in Idaho with little or no experience?
The strongest entry point for candidates without prior experience is applying directly to the structured internship programs that Micron Technology, Idaho Power, and St. Luke's Health System run for students with no professional accounting background. Idaho's public universities also maintain direct recruiting relationships with regional CPA firms in Boise that bring on first-internship candidates. Volunteering with Idaho's VITA tax preparation sites builds verifiable, resume-ready experience and a direct connection to the accounting community before paid opportunities arise.
