How do I get an accounting intern job in Albuquerque?
Target the sectors that drive most Albuquerque hiring: federal and state government contractors, University of New Mexico and other higher-education institutions, regional healthcare networks, and local CPA firms serving small and mid-size businesses. Roles concentrate Downtown and in the Uptown corridor. Candidates who already know QuickBooks, Excel, and basic tax preparation stand out, and a prior bookkeeping or payroll assistant role at any Albuquerque employer gives a real edge.
Which companies hire accounting interns in Albuquerque?

The mix tends to include regional CPA and advisory firms, government contractors tied to Kirtland Air Force Base and Sandia National Laboratories, and the healthcare systems that anchor the city's economy.
Are there remote accounting intern jobs in Albuquerque?
Yes, though most accounting intern roles involve on-site work because of physical document handling and close supervisor oversight. About 40% of accounting intern openings tied to Albuquerque are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a modest but real remote segment. Bookkeeping support, data entry, and accounts-payable tasks are the parts of the role most likely to shift to remote arrangements with Albuquerque-based employers.
How can I get an accounting intern job in Albuquerque with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through UNM's accounting department cooperative education program or community college partnerships, which connect students directly with Albuquerque employers for credit-bearing placements. Local CPA firms and small businesses in the Nob Hill and Downtown areas regularly hire first-semester students for bookkeeping or data-entry support roles. Volunteering with VITA tax assistance sites each spring also builds a verifiable Albuquerque-specific record that local employers recognize.

The sectors hiring the most accounting interns in Albuquerque are Manufacturing, Construction & Real Estate, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
