Open Rank Clinician Educator of Internal Medicine in General Internal Medicine- Geriatrics
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Geriatric Medicine trained physician to join our section of Geriatric Medicine housed at our Albuquerque campus, expanding our outpatient faculty group in Albuquerque, NM.
UNM HSC is the only academic medical center and the primary teaching hospital in New Mexico, providing care for over 200,000 patients annually and serving as the state's only Level I trauma center. The state of New Mexico has one of the most rapidly aging populations in the United States which puts the Geriatric profession in high demand and appreciation.

This position focuses on providing high-quality, evidence-based clinical care to a dedicated patient panel while also teaching residents from Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Fellows in Geriatric Medicine and other specialties as part of your practice. residents during their continuity clinic experience. Our brand-new senior health center is a Level III NCQA-recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home, offering comprehensive primary care with integrated clinical pharmacists, behavioral health support, and care management teams.
In addition to clinical duties, candidates will have dedicated time for medical student education and opportunities for advancement in leadership across academic and administrative roles.

Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO
- Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Must be board certified or board eligible in Geriatric Medicine by date of hire.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or interest in providing evidence-based general geriatric medicine care including and not limited to: geriatric assessments, consultations, complex chronic disease management, prevention, wellness, and lifestyle medicine.
- Experience or interest in teaching residents, medical students, and fellows.
- Experience or interest in developing outpatient research and quality improvement projects in Geriatrics.
- Experience or interest in developing outpatient research and quality improvement projects in Geriatrics.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the University’s mission to serve local and global communities.
