AI Engineer Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai engineer in Utah?
AI engineering in Utah has no state-issued license or registration requirement, so entry is credential- and portfolio-driven. Most Utah employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred for senior roles. Utah's university programs at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University are well-regarded pipelines. Building a demonstrable project portfolio in machine learning or NLP accelerates hiring at most Wasatch Front employers.
Which companies hire ai engineers in Utah?
Companies currently hiring ai engineers in Utah include Atonom, Packsize, and CVS Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Utah's technology corridor between Salt Lake City and Provo means many of these employers maintain substantial engineering teams that recruit continuously rather than only for backfill roles.
Which Utah cities have the most ai engineer jobs?
Salt Lake City, Lehi, and Provo hold the most ai engineer openings in Utah. Salt Lake City anchors the market as the state capital and home to large enterprise technology offices, while Provo and Lehi drive significant volume through the high concentration of software and analytics companies that have made the area known as Silicon Slopes.
Are there remote ai engineer jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of ai engineer openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves writing code and running experiments rather than on-site hardware. Roles focused on model development and research tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions that require direct integration with on-premise data infrastructure are more likely to require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a ai engineer in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to associate or junior data scientist roles at Utah's larger technology employers, then transitioning into applied ML work once inside. Companies like Adobe and Qualtrics in the Salt Lake City and Lehi area run new-graduate programs that accept candidates with strong academic projects in lieu of professional experience. Contributing to an open-source ML project or completing a focused portfolio demonstrating a deployed model meaningfully strengthens applications for candidates without full-time history.
Where can I find and apply to ai engineer jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to ai engineer jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and focus area, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
