AI Data Specialist Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai data specialist in Utah?
There is no state-issued license required to work as an ai data specialist in Utah. Most employers along the Silicon Slopes corridor hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a quantitative field, along with demonstrated hands-on experience with machine learning workflows. Building a portfolio of data labeling, pipeline, or model evaluation projects and earning recognized industry credentials such as the Google Professional Data Engineer or AWS Certified Machine Learning certification strengthens applications to Utah employers significantly.
How much do AI data specialists make in Utah?
AI data specialists in Utah earn a median of about $108,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,680 for the lowest 10% to over $167,890 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ai data specialists in Utah?
Companies currently hiring ai data specialists in Utah include Atonom, CVS Health, and Utah State University, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Utah's Silicon Slopes region gives job seekers access to a dense mix of technology headquarters, enterprise software firms, and cloud services operations that consistently maintain active ai data specialist pipelines.
Which Utah cities have the most ai data specialist jobs?
Salt Lake City, Provo, and Lehi lead Utah in ai data specialist openings. Salt Lake City anchors the market as the state's largest metro with a broad mix of tech, healthcare, and financial services employers, while Provo and Lehi sit at the heart of the Silicon Slopes corridor, where a high concentration of software and cloud companies drives consistent demand for data and AI talent.
Are there remote ai data specialist jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 47% of ai data specialist openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and collaborative nature of the work. Roles focused on data annotation review, model quality assurance, and pipeline documentation are especially likely to be offered with flexible or fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a ai data specialist in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through data annotation or data quality associate roles, which large Utah tech employers and their contracted partners post regularly for candidates without deep experience. Adobe, Qualtrics, and several Silicon Slopes startups run new-grad programs and contract-to-hire pipelines where annotation, labeling, and QA work serves as a direct on-ramp. Building a public portfolio on GitHub demonstrating Python data cleaning, labeling pipeline work, or basic model evaluation projects gives candidates without prior titles a concrete edge in Utah applications.
Where can I find and apply to ai data specialist jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to ai data specialist jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings. Search the listings for roles that fit your background, experience level, and preferred location or remote arrangement, then apply directly to the ones that match.
