Job Overview
AI Product Engineer, Banking Technology - Senior Vice President (Hybrid)
Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and hands-on AI Product Engineer to join our Banking Technology group. This is a senior-level, strategic role designed for a leader who thrives at the intersection of product management, artificial intelligence, and software engineering. You will be responsible for shaping the future of our financial products by identifying high-impact opportunities for AI and leading the end-to-end lifecycle from concept to scaled production.
This is not a traditional development role. We are looking for a product-minded technologist who can bridge the gap between complex business challenges and cutting-edge AI solutions. You will be heavier on the "product" side—defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap—while maintaining the deep technical expertise to guide a cross-functional team in building and shipping world-class, AI-powered applications.
Responsibilities
- Define the Vision: Own the product strategy for AI initiatives within Banking Technology. Analyze market trends, internal business processes, and user pain points to identify and champion new opportunities for AI-driven innovation.
- Drive the Roadmap: Translate the product vision into a clear, actionable roadmap. Develop and prioritize features, epics, and user stories to guide the engineering team.
- Lead from the Front: Act as the key technical and product leader for a dedicated team of engineers. Mentor team members, establish modern engineering best practices and foster a culture of excellence and rapid iteration.
- Bridge Business and Tech: Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, end-users, and the development team. Articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and translate business requirements into robust technical designs.
- Hands-On Prototyping and Architecture: Be prepared to get hands-on with building proofs-of-concept and initial prototypes to validate ideas quickly.
- Champion and Influence: Influence and negotiate with senior leadership to secure buy-in and resources for your product vision. Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Manage Risk and Compliance: Uphold the firm's commitment to risk management and compliance. Ensure that all product decisions and technical implementations adhere to the highest standards of security, ethics, and regulatory requirements, safeguarding the firm and its clients.
Qualification:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in technology, with a proven track record of shipping products from concept to launch in a product-centric or entrepreneurial role.
- Product & Engineering Hybrid: Demonstrated experience in a role that blends product management (defining the "what" and "why") with software engineering (defining the "how").
- AI/ML Expertise: Deep subject matter expertise in applying modern AI/ML techniques to solve real-world business problems. Experience with NLP, predictive modeling, or generative AI is highly desirable.
- Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of core banking and financial technology domains (e.g., commercial banking, risk, transaction services, capital markets).
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment. Experience with project management and influencing without direct authority.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive decisions among senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
- Technical Acumen: While this is a product-heavy role, you should have a strong foundation in software engineering principles and be comfortable discussing architecture and code with your team.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred

AI Product Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai product engineer in New York?
Most ai product engineers in New York enter the field with a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline, since no state-issued license applies to this role. New York employers typically look for candidates who have built and shipped AI-powered features, so a strong project portfolio or contributions to production ML systems carries significant weight. Bootcamp graduates who can demonstrate applied ML work also find openings at New York startups and mid-size product companies.
Which companies hire ai product engineers in New York?
Employers hiring ai product engineers in New York right now include Amazon, Datadog, and EY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of fintech firms, enterprise software companies, and media technology groups means consistent demand throughout the year rather than purely seasonal hiring cycles.
Which New York cities have the most ai product engineer jobs?
New York, New York City, and Atlanta account for the most ai product engineer openings in New York. Manhattan dominates due to its concentration of financial services firms, enterprise tech offices, and startup hubs, while Brooklyn's growing tech corridor and any suburban or upstate listings typically reflect satellite offices or remote-eligible roles tied to large employers headquartered in the city.
Are there remote ai product engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 36% of ai product engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on code, model development, and product collaboration that transfers well to distributed settings. The portions of the role most commonly offered remotely are ML platform work and product roadmap execution, while team-embedded roles at major financial institutions tend to require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a ai product engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an associate or junior product engineer role at a New York startup or mid-size software company where teams are small enough that engineers contribute across AI and product work from day one. IBM and JPMorgan Chase both run structured new-graduate engineering programs in New York that include AI and data tracks. Candidates coming from software engineering or data science roles can move laterally by building a portfolio that demonstrates product thinking alongside model development, which New York hiring managers consistently cite as the deciding factor for early-career candidates.
Where can I find and apply to ai product engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to ai product engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and target companies, and apply directly to the ones that match.
