AI Researcher Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai researcher in Delaware?
AI researcher roles in Delaware do not require a state-issued license. The concrete path is a bachelor's degree followed by a master's or PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related discipline from a program such as those at the University of Delaware or Delaware State University. Employers in Wilmington's financial sector and Newark's tech corridor typically expect a graduate degree, a published or demonstrated research portfolio, and hands-on experience with modern ML frameworks before hiring at the researcher level.
Which companies hire ai researchers in Delaware?
Companies currently hiring ai researchers in Delaware include JPMorganChase, CVS Health, and The Bancorp, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of financial services headquarters, pharmaceutical research operations, and government-adjacent technology contractors makes it a consistent source of applied AI research demand.
Which Delaware cities have the most ai researcher jobs?
Wilmington, Delaware, and Dover hold the most ai researcher openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it is home to major financial services and corporate headquarters, Newark follows as the anchor of the University of Delaware research corridor and a cluster of biotech and technology firms, and Dover draws demand from state government agencies and defense-adjacent contractors operating in the capital region.
Are there remote ai researcher jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 43% of ai researcher openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based, computationally intensive nature of the work. Research roles focused on modeling, data analysis, and algorithm development are the most consistently offered on a remote or hybrid basis, while positions requiring access to proprietary lab infrastructure or secure government facilities tend to be on-site.
How can I get hired as a ai researcher in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a research assistantship or internship during graduate study, particularly at the University of Delaware's data science and AI labs, which have established relationships with Wilmington-area employers. Candidates can also transition from adjacent roles such as data analyst, machine learning engineer, or software engineer by building a public portfolio of research projects. Large Delaware-based financial institutions and pharmaceutical companies run structured early-career programs that accept candidates who demonstrate applied project work even without a formal research title.
