AI Research Scientist Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai research scientist in Delaware?
The standard path begins with a PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, statistics, or a related field, though some roles accept a master's degree paired with strong publication or industry research credentials. Delaware imposes no state-issued license or registration specific to AI research scientists. Candidates typically build their profile through academic research, published work, and internships, then target employers in Wilmington's financial and pharma corridor or pursue postdoctoral positions at the University of Delaware before moving into industry roles.
Which companies hire ai research scientists in Delaware?
Companies currently hiring ai research scientists in Delaware include JPMorganChase, CVS Health, and The Bancorp, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in Wilmington and its established life sciences and financial services sectors mean demand tends to be stable and tied to long-term R&D investment rather than short hiring cycles.
Which Delaware cities have the most ai research scientist jobs?
Wilmington, Delaware, and Dover account for the largest share of ai research scientist openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it hosts the headquarters or major offices of large financial institutions and specialty chemical companies that fund applied AI research, while Newark's openings are closely tied to the University of Delaware's research partnerships and the biotech and materials science firms that cluster nearby.
Are there remote ai research scientist jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 43% of ai research scientist openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the largely computational nature of the work. The parts of the role most consistently offered remotely are model development, literature review, and collaborative writing, while positions requiring access to proprietary datasets, specialized hardware clusters, or lab-integrated systems typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a ai research scientist in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a research assistant or associate scientist role at the University of Delaware or a Delaware-based pharmaceutical company such as a specialty chemicals or biotech firm, where structured programs exist for candidates who have completed a relevant master's degree but lack full industry experience. Building a public portfolio of reproducible ML projects, contributing to open-source research tools, and pursuing a postdoctoral appointment in the University of Delaware's College of Engineering are concrete ways to move from no experience to a first industry position in the state.
Where can I find and apply to ai research scientist jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to ai research scientist jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Wilmington, Newark, and other parts of the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your research background and seniority level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
