Mid Level Aircraft Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level aircraft engineer job?
Position your experience around ownership: highlight systems or components you led from design through testing, problems you diagnosed and resolved independently, and any coordination you did across engineering disciplines. Employers at this level want to see that you can work with minimal supervision. Tailor your application to the aircraft type or systems domain the employer focuses on, whether that is propulsion, avionics, structures, or flight controls.
Which companies hire mid level aircraft engineers?
Companies hiring mid level aircraft engineers right now include Garmin, TrellisWare Technologies, and ICSI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of major airframers and defense primes, Tier 1 suppliers, and MRO operators that need engineers who can own day-to-day technical work without close supervision.
Are there remote mid level aircraft engineer jobs?
Yes, though most aircraft engineering work is hands-on and tied to a physical facility or flight line. About 0% of mid level aircraft engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles tend to be in systems engineering, certification, or technical documentation rather than manufacturing or maintenance environments.
How do I move up to a mid level aircraft engineer role?
Growth from entry level to mid level comes from deepening your ownership over time. Early on, focus on mastering a specific domain, whether structures, propulsion, avionics, or systems integration, and seek out projects where you can lead a deliverable rather than just support one. Demonstrating measurable impact, such as a weight reduction, a schedule improvement, or a certification milestone you drove, is what moves you into mid level consideration.
Which industries hire the most mid level aircraft engineers?
Mid Level aircraft engineer roles concentrate in Aerospace & Defense, Technology & Software, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate large fleets, run continuous development programs, or face regulatory cycles that require experienced engineers who can own technical workstreams independently.
