Android Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a android engineer in Florida?
Android engineering in Florida requires no state-issued license, so the path runs through education and demonstrated skills. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, though candidates with a strong portfolio of shipped Android apps and demonstrated Kotlin proficiency are regularly hired. Florida's large tech and defense employers often recruit directly from universities such as the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and Florida International University.
How much do android engineers make in Florida?
Android engineers in Florida earn a median of about $130,980 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,050 for the lowest 10% to over $204,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire android engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring android engineers in Florida right now include Adidev Technologies, Compass, and Versant, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's mix of consumer tech, defense contracting, and healthcare IT means android engineers here work across a wider range of verticals than in most other states.
Which Florida cities have the most android engineer jobs?
Tampa, Aventura, and Orlando lead Florida for android engineer openings. Miami's concentration of fintech startups and Latin American-facing consumer apps drives its volume, while Orlando's simulation and defense tech sector along with major employers like Lockheed Martin supports consistent hiring, and Tampa's growing healthcare IT corridor and UKG's headquarters anchor demand in the Bay Area.
Are there remote android engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of android engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how readily mobile development translates to distributed work. The roles most commonly offered remotely are individual contributor positions in consumer app development, while team lead and principal engineer roles at Florida's defense and regulated-industry employers tend to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a android engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a published Android app paired with a Computer Science degree or a recognized bootcamp credential. Florida employers such as Chewy and UKG run associate software engineer programs specifically for new graduates, and defense contractors like Lockheed Martin hire junior developers at their Orlando and Marietta facilities for internal tooling teams. Moving laterally from a QA automation or web front-end role into Android is another proven door-opener at mid-size Florida product companies.
