Architect Jobs in Tampa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an architect job in Tampa?
Target Tampa's active commercial development, healthcare, and hospitality sectors, where hiring is most consistent. Firms along the downtown core and Westshore business district take on the most staff. Candidates who can show project delivery experience in multifamily, mixed-use, or institutional work stand out locally. Connecting with the AIA Tampa Bay chapter also surfaces openings that never reach general job boards.
Which companies hire architects in Tampa?
Companies currently hiring architects in Tampa include Wipro, Gensler, and Capgemini, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tampa's employer mix runs from regional architecture and engineering firms to large healthcare systems and real estate developers managing in-house design teams.
Are there remote architect jobs in Tampa?
Yes, though architecture is largely site-dependent, so fully remote roles are uncommon. About 67% of architect openings tied to Tampa are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, meaning most remote work applies to design development and documentation phases rather than construction administration. Technology and planning-focused roles within larger Tampa firms are the most likely to offer hybrid arrangements.
How can I get an architect job in Tampa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tampa is joining a mid-size architecture or engineering firm as an architectural designer or intern architect while completing licensure hours. Tampa's active mixed-use and multifamily development market means regional firms regularly bring on junior designers. Building a portfolio with local project types, such as hospitality or healthcare interiors, and pursuing Revit proficiency gives entry-level candidates a clear edge with Tampa employers.
Which industries hire the most architects in Tampa?
Most architect openings in Tampa sit in Technology & Software and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tampa's sustained investment in healthcare campuses, waterfront mixed-use development, and commercial construction keeps those sectors as the steadiest sources of architectural hiring in the metro.
