Architect Jobs in Charlotte: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an architect job in Charlotte?
Focus your search on Charlotte's commercial real estate, healthcare, and urban infill sectors, which drive the most consistent hiring in the city. Firms concentrated in Uptown and South End handle the bulk of large-scale commercial and mixed-use work, while Ballantyne attracts corporate campus and suburban office projects. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with local building codes, Charlotte's growth-corridor projects, and sustainable design tend to stand out in a competitive pool.
Which companies hire architects in Charlotte?
Companies currently hiring architects in Charlotte include Cognizant, Honeywell, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Charlotte's hiring base mixes regional architecture firms, national design-build contractors, and large healthcare systems that maintain in-house planning and design teams.
Are there remote architect jobs in Charlotte?
Yes, though remote work is limited for architects since most roles involve site visits, client walkthroughs, and in-person design coordination. About 42% of architect openings tied to Charlotte are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, skewing toward firms where schematic design, BIM drafting, and project management tasks can be handled off-site between coordination meetings.
How can I get an architect job in Charlotte with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charlotte is landing an intern architect or architectural designer role at a mid-size firm, where you can log the IDP hours needed for licensure while contributing to real projects. Charlotte's healthcare expansion and multifamily boom have created openings at firms that regularly bring on recent graduates for production-level work. Showing proficiency in Revit and familiarity with Charlotte's zoning ordinances and development review process gives entry-level candidates a clear practical edge.
Which industries hire the most architects in Charlotte?
Most architect openings in Charlotte sit in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Construction & Real Estate, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Charlotte's rapid population growth, ongoing Uptown densification, and major healthcare campus expansions across the metro keep demand in those sectors consistently ahead of other markets in the Southeast.
