JOB SUMMARY
The SAP Enterprise Data Architect role provides expertise in SAP S/4HANA data architecture, enterprise data modeling, migration strategy, and data governance. This is a key role in designing scalable data structures across source, staging, and target environments; defining migration and validation frameworks; and enabling high-quality, business-ready data to support operational processes, reporting, and analytics. This position requires strong partnering with business, functional, and technical stakeholders to align data design with transformation objectives, compliance requirements, and long-term governance standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and governance of the enterprise data model for SAP S/4HANA, ensuring alignment across legacy sources, staging layers, and target business objects.
- Define end-to-end data architecture, including data lineage, harmonization rules, established structures, and simplified staging models to support efficient migration and downstream consumption.
- Establish data standards, governance policies, ownership models, validation rules, and reconciliation criteria to improve data quality, integrity, and auditability.
- Partner with business process owners, functional leads, and technical teams to translate business requirements into scalable data designs that support core operational processes and analytics.
- Guide migration strategy and object-level design decisions, including load sequencing, dependency management, logic, and tool selection for SAP S/4HANA data loads.
- Support data profiling, cleansing, and harmonization activities across master and transactional data domains to improve readiness for migration.
- Ensure migrated data supports reporting, compliance, and business performance requirements, including readiness for operational KPIs and downstream integrations.
- Provide architectural oversight for migration tooling such as SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, staging table approaches, ETL frameworks, and related SAP data services.
- Develop and maintain architecture documentation, data mapping standards, and design artifacts to support delivery teams, governance bodies, and audit requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in enterprise data practices by promoting reusable patterns, stronger governance, and sustainable data quality processes
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 10 to 15 years of experience working in SAP with multiple implementations across multiple modules.
- Experience in enterprise data architecture, data migration, or master data management within SAP environments for both GxP and non-GxP data sets.
- Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA data structures, master data objects, transactional data dependencies, and enterprise integration concepts.
- Experience defining enterprise data models, data standards, governance frameworks, and migration strategies for large-scale transformation programs.
- Direct understanding of migration and integration tools such as SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services, ETL platforms, and staging-based migration methods.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional workshops, resolve complex data issues, and align technical design with business priorities.
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
- Key technical skills in SAP S/4HANA Data Architecture, Enterprise Data Modeling, Data Governance, Data Migration Strategy, Master Data Management, Data Lineage, Data Quality, Data Harmonization, SAP Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services, ETL Design, Validation and Reconciliation, Business Process Integration, Reporting and Analytics Readiness.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Experience supporting global SAP S/4HANA implementations across multiple business units, regions, or legal entities.
- Familiarity with SAP Master Data Governance, SAP Business Technology Platform, and analytics enablement for SAP reporting environments.
- Knowledge of regulated or compliance-driven environments that require strong data controls, traceability, and audit readiness.
- Experience with data quality management, harmonization programs, and post-go-live governance models.
- SAP certification or relevant architecture, data, or transformation credentials.
