Entry Level Assistant Counsel Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level assistant counsel job?
Focus on demonstrating practical legal skills rather than years of experience. Employers hiring at the entry level typically look for a J.D. or relevant legal degree, strong research and writing ability, and any hands-on exposure through law school clinics, clerkships, or internships. Tailoring your application materials to the specific practice area of each opening gives you a clear edge over generalized submissions.
Which companies hire entry level assistant counsels?
Companies hiring entry level assistant counsels right now include Amazon, City of Chicago, IL, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers corporate legal departments, government agencies, nonprofits, and mid-size firms that regularly bring on junior counsel to support growing compliance and contract workloads.
Are there remote entry level assistant counsel jobs?
Yes, though fully remote positions remain less common in legal roles than in some other fields. About 19% of entry level assistant counsel openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, giving candidates genuine flexibility without limiting the pool to a single city. Hybrid arrangements are especially common at larger corporate legal teams and technology companies.
Are these new grad assistant counsel jobs?
Yes, the openings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior assistant counsel roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, treats internship work or clinic hours as qualifying experience, or explicitly invites candidates with a strong academic record and writing portfolio rather than requiring prior full-time legal employment.
Which industries hire the most entry level assistant counsels?
Entry Level assistant counsel roles concentrate in Technology & Software, E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive junior legal hiring because ongoing regulatory requirements, contract volume, and compliance obligations create consistent demand for counsel who can grow alongside the organization's legal needs.
