Entry Level Backend Infrastructure Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level backend infrastructure engineer job?
Employers at this level look for hands-on evidence over credentials: a GitHub portfolio with infrastructure projects, experience configuring CI/CD pipelines or container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, and familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Internships, open-source contributions, and personal lab environments all signal practical readiness and give entry level candidates a clear edge in the application process.
Which companies hire entry level backend infrastructure engineers?
Companies hiring entry level backend infrastructure engineers right now include CVS Health, Capital One, and LMI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a range of employers, including growth-stage startups building out their infrastructure teams for the first time and established tech companies that run structured new grad programs with mentorship built in.
Are there remote entry level backend infrastructure engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles are also common at this level. About 13% of entry level backend infrastructure engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed engineering teams have become across the industry. Candidates willing to work on-site typically see a larger pool of openings, particularly at companies that prefer in-person onboarding for junior hires.
Are these new grad backend infrastructure engineer jobs?
Yes, the openings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior backend infrastructure engineer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or project work in place of full-time history, or explicitly invites candidates with a strong portfolio and no prior professional role. New grad candidates should look for those signals in the job description before applying.
Which industries hire the most entry level backend infrastructure engineers?
Entry Level backend infrastructure engineer roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Banking & Financial Services, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they run large-scale distributed systems that require dedicated infrastructure support, and they tend to invest in growing junior talent to meet ongoing capacity and reliability demands.
