Entry Level Budget Officer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level budget officer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates with a degree in finance, accounting, economics, or public administration, along with demonstrated familiarity with spreadsheet tools and basic budget tracking. Internship experience in a finance or government setting strengthens an application significantly. Highlighting coursework in financial analysis, showing attention to detail, and tailoring your resume to the specific role's responsibilities gives candidates the clearest edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level budget officers?
Companies hiring entry level budget officers right now include US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA, Axle, and United Nations, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Government agencies, healthcare systems, universities, and large nonprofits tend to post the most entry level openings at this stage, as their budget cycles and compliance requirements create consistent demand for junior analysts and budget support staff.
Are there remote entry level budget officer jobs?
Yes, though most entry level postings are still on-site given the training and mentorship component of starting out. About 9% of entry level budget officer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements being more common than fully remote for candidates without prior professional experience in the role.
Are these new grad budget officer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles that explicitly welcome candidates with little or no professional experience. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it accepts zero to two years of experience, counts relevant internships toward that requirement, or invites candidates to submit a portfolio or academic project work in place of a full employment history.
Which industries hire the most entry level budget officers?
Entry Level budget officer roles concentrate in Government & Public Sector, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent entry level hiring because they operate on formal annual budget cycles, face regulatory reporting requirements, and need junior staff to support senior analysts with tracking, reconciliation, and documentation work.
